The (Dis)Comfort of Money

Women with money and women in power are two uncomfortable ideas in our society.”– Candace Bushnell

Money is the last taboo. People will spill seamy details about their sex lives, before they talk about their salary or, savings accounts. And yet, money is so often at the heart of marital fights, broken dreams, and wake-in-the-middle-of-the-night fears.

That’s why I wrote The (Dis)Comfort of Money – second in my ‘comfort’ series.* The short book includes wisdom, humor, writer’s being honest about their relationship with money, and more. All about the topic with which we are the least comfortable.

From Gina Bolvin, of Bolvin Wealth Management Group, who worked with me on this project, you’ll get the facts and wisdom. From author friends, Carla Buckley, Juliette Fay, Crystal King, Ellen Meeropol, MJ Rose, B.A. Shapiro, Marissa Stapley and me, you’ll get the various ways we twist ourselves into pretzels (or are wise) when it comes to our checkbooks.

Bookclubs who choose The Widow of Wall Street for their club will get a copy of The (Dis)Comfort of Money or The Comfort of Food, simply by contacting me here. The book will also be given away to a lucky winner at all my author events.

The Comfort of Food is a compendium of recipes and stories of my relationship to cooking & the food I love.

So great meeting you at Rockport Public Library last week. I can see why you and Julie (Juliette) are such good friends. I have been re-totally obsessed with the Madoff story every since. I tried to read Widow of Wall Street slowly (I am a naturally slow reader) but found that difficult to do. I was inside the story. Couldn’t think of anything else when I wasn’t reading it. So, yes, your book is a total success with me. Yesterday, I watched Wizard of Wall Street (HBO movie) with Robert DiNiro and Michelle Phieffer (forgive the spelling of proper names) which I recommend if you haven’t seen it. I was so aware how small the Ruth character looks and your take on how Phoebe had to look for Jake. Michelle must have lost weight for this one. I also liked the mini-series one with Richard Dreyfus.

Would love to read Discomfort of Money if you wouldn’t mind sending it.

Many thanks for a great read and a wonderful evening.

    Your newest fan,

    Janet
